Research Interests
Apart from being a lecturer at the Department of Chinese Studies, Yong Liang is currently writing his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Vogel and Prof. Mittag. His PhD research focuses on the economic growth of the imperial Jin-Qing state before 1644, with the additional intention of drafting a monograph to be published within the Brill series on non-European territorial expansion. Besides, as Yong Liang is an expert in Manchu language, he has already translated some relevant Manchu primers. For instance, Ki meng 啓蒙 (which will be published under the title A Book for Enlightening Methods to Learn the Manchu Language), Oyonggo jorin bithe 指要 (to be published as Fundamental Ideas for Learning the Manchu Language) and Sirame oyonggo jorin bithe 續編指要(to be published as Fundamental Ideas for Learning the Manchu Language, Continued).

Other Activities
In addition, Yong Liang takes part in a research group undertaking translations of Jesuit Chinese treatises on western science, technology and medicine led by Prof. Vogel. These works were written by Jesuit missionaries during the late Ming period who by means of introducing useful and reliable knowledge into China tried to achieve their proselytizing ends. His collaboration contributes to the DFG funded research project “Translating Western Science, Technology and Medicine to Late Ming China: Convergences and Divergences in the Light of the Kunyu gezhi 坤輿格致 (Investigations of the Earth's Interior; 1640) and Taixi shuifa 泰西水法 (Hydromethods of the Great West; 1612)."

97级校友、德国图宾根大学汉学系讲师梁永返校讲学

西南民族大学新闻网10月17日讯 10月16日，文新学院97级校友、德国图宾根大学亚洲与远东学院汉学系讲师、德国联邦政府公务员梁永应邀返校讲学。此次讲座是学校海外校友学术交流周系列活动之一，由发展规划与学科建设处、对外联络办公室、国际合作与交流处、文新学院联合承办。文新学院相关专业师生参加了讲座。

梁永校友以《满文档案应用举隅：后金及清初满语言文学理论分析》为题，结合国内外满语文学研究的学术前沿，从文学回顾、为何选题、资料分析、切题方法、前景展望等方面介绍了国内外后金及清初满语文学研究情况，分享了国外学生的培养模式、自身求学经历、学习外语的心得体会等，希望同学们在学习中培养工匠精神，持之以恒，反复训练，在学术研究中始终保持献身学术的热情，坚持从史料入手，不断专研，不断锤炼。

整场讲座中文、英文、满文等多种语言结合，语言学、文学、历史、人类学等多学科交叉，深入浅出，提出了很多满语文学研究的新领域、新方法。同学们认真倾听，与校友交流互动，会场掌声不断，气氛积极热烈。
